Research centers and coordinated collaborative research
Visible signs of coordinated collaborative research include the DFG-approved Collaborative research center Tailor-Made Multi-Scale Materials Systems, M³,and the Research Training Group.
The TUHH’s research centers are extending further its existing good position in competition with other universities in the areas of basic and application-oriented research.

Crossing the boundaries of schools, the research centers are each managed by between ten and fifteen professors. The vision is to position the TUHH in its proven scientific research areas as a high-performing university in the concert of universities of technology in Germany by focusing on research centers.
