The TUHH stages several information events each year for prospective students. Each event has a different main focus and alignment.

Taster Days (Schnupperstudium) - ONLINE

The next Taster Days will probably take place in February 2022

We would like to give you a foretaste of TUHH. Are you interested to find out what industrial engineers or civil engineers are doing? What expertise they need, in which companies they work and what their work routine looks like? Would you like to have interesting insights in companies in industry, aviation or the technology sector? You can find all this and further information about studying at TUHH in our taster days (Schnupperstudium).

How to choose a study program

You may find useful tips on how to choose a career and a study program on the following web page of the Federal Employment Agency.

The Higher Education Compass (Hochschulkompass) of the German Rectors' Conference (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz) gives an overview of the study options at German universities and provides help on choosing a study programme.

Information on the previous knowledge and prerequisites in mathematics required for a study program in engineering sciences can be obtained through the test MINTFIT.HAMBURG, which is available online and free of charge.

You can brush up your knowledge in mathematics and prepare yourself systematically for the requirements in mathematics of a study program in engineering sciences through the Online Mathematics Bridging Course OMB+ and the video-based interactive preparatory course ViaMINT, which are available online and free of charge.

Tips for Parents

You can obtain information on how to successfully support and accompany your child through the process of choosing a career and a study program on the following web page of the Federal Employment Agency.

As part of the Taster Days (please see above), TUHH offers the Parent Talk, a group counseling session for parents of prospective students. During this session, student counselors answer questions with respect to choosing a study program or university, job perspectives and other topics.

With participation of the TUHH, the Federal Employment Agency in Hamburg provides information on job training and study opportunities as well as on services for further information and counseling to prospective graduates of high-schools in Hamburg and their parents once a year at the Update Eltern event. (Next Update Eltern event on 17th of April 2021, online, 2-4 pm, Invitation via Hamburger Schulbehörde and Federal Employment Agency Hamburg )
